Red Velvet‘s Seulgi just gave her opinion on the “perilla leaf debate” that’s been trending in Korea lately!
On February 9, Seulgi celebrated her 29th birthday (Korean age), and shot a vlog documenting how she celebrated her special day to share with her fans!
As part of her celebration, she cooked up a meal of beef bulgogi, seaweed soup, and rice, and had a dinner party with her cousin!
While eating, Seulgi’s cousin asked Seulgi if she’s aware of the “perilla/sesame leaf debate”. During a meal, the perilla/sesame leaves are often stuck together, and the debate is about whether or not it’s okay to separate the leaves for someone who is not your partner/significant other.
Seulgi, did you hear about that? The perilla leaf debate?
Seulgi confirmed that she has, and said that she wouldn’t mind if her boyfriend separates the leaves for someone else!
Yes. I wouldn’t care. I just think…it’s fine to help someone out with that. It’s fine as long as you don’t send some strange signal.
When her cousin asked her to elaborate on what a “special signal” means, Seulgi cutely gave a “look” and said “[like] I care for you”. She then said that it’s okay if they’re doing it to be kind!
But to be considerate, I guess you can do it.
You can watch her talk about it here!
