If you ever thought life in North Korea seemed to be a nightmare… well it’s just gotten worse.
South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) reported that the government just issued a nationwide ban on gatherings that involve drinking, singing, and other forms of entertainment.
They clarified that the move is a way to gain tighter control over people’s lives during times of economic instability.
“(Pyongyang) has devised a system whereby party organs report people’s economic hardships on a daily basis, and it has banned any gatherings related to drinking, singing and other entertainment and is strengthening control of outside information.”
The move follows sanctions put in place by the U.S. and others, and China’s decision to limit its trade and travel in and out of the North in response to the growing threat of Kim Jong Un’s nuclear tests.
Clear evidence from the recently defected North Korean soldier proved that North Koreans are suffering from dangerous health issues.
And now the citizens of North Korea can’t even find ways to bring a little joy into their lives.
It’s no wonder that North Koreans risk their lives to escape the country for a chance for a normal life.
