Ever since their debut in 2018, (G)I-DLE‘s Soyeon has written almost all their songs for the last 4 years, and has truly proved herself as an incredible producer and lyricist! But she recently revealed that throughout the years, there is one song that constantly puts pressure on her as a musician, even now!
(G)I-DLE recently sat down for an interview with Sakshma Srivastav of E Now, and talked about their new album, growth through the years, and more!
One of the questions they were asked was for Soyeon and it was about the success they received right at the time they debuted. She was asked about the pressure she felt about their instant success, and how she deals with it.
Your group experienced massive success with just your debut song “LATATA”. It was a series of wins and awards…but that can put a lot of pressure for your upcoming projects. Was it like that for you? Did it put you under some kind of pressure?
Soyeon revealed that she does, in fact, feel a lot of pressure because of the immediate success of “LATATA”. She feels she has to match up to it with all the other songs that she writes, but she’s confident that the songs in their new album are definitely better than “LATATA”!
Yes! “LATATA” is the song that has always put pressure on me. So everytime I make a new song, I wonder, ‘Is this new song better than “LATATA”?’
But I’m pretty sure that our new album is better than “LATATA”! “LATATA” is always a standard song for us because it’s our debut song.
The members have always shined, ever since their debut with “LATATA”, and continue to show tremendous growth everytime they release new music!
