BLACKPINK‘s Jennie and Dua Lipa have one of the most precious friendships!
On August 23, Jennie posted a birthday greeting to the English singer who turned 26 years old the previous day. She captioned it with a sweet message.
Happy birthday my beautiful fairy 🧚 I miss youuuu 🤍
The picture that accompanied her post was from the duo’s latest hangout. The BLACKPINK star recently made headlines when she met up with numerous top celebrities while on a seemingly spontaneous trip to Los Angeles. In Instagram and Twitter posts from July 7, Dua Lipa shared a mirror selfie of the two with the caption, “peek into the week.”

Jennie and Dua Lipa first met in the latter’s concert in Seoul.
They later collaborated on their 2018 track “Kiss and Make Up” which charted on the Billboard Hot 100 after its release.
During one interview with Access Hollywood, Dua explained that she was the first to reach out to BLACKPINK for a possible partnership. She was “very excited” about the record even before it was released.
I’ve got a song coming out with this amazing Korean pop group called BLACKPINK, and they are amazing. They are huge. It comes out on October 19th, and the song is called Kiss and Make Up, and it’s a song that I wrote a year ago but I wanted to do a collaboration with someone, I just didn’t find the right home for it. I recently met the girls in Seoul, and I was thinking ‘Would it be crazy if I just send them a song to see if they like it and if they want to sing on it,’ and that’s what I did. They were very quick with the response and they were like, ‘Yeah let’s do it’ and they just quickly went and recorded it and changed some of the lyrics to Korean. And that was really it. So I’m really thrilled about that one. I am very excited about that.

This isn’t the first time the two supported each other. Jennie previously named Dua’s “New Rules” as the song that inspires her the most.
Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules.’ It was my favorite song when it came out. I think I watched the video the day it came out on YouTube!
She also supported Dua Lipa’s 2019 hit song “Don’t Start Now.” Jennie captioned her Instagram story, “My love killing it.” Dua Lipa responded by re-sharing Jennie’s post and calling her “my sister.”
Last 2020, Dua Lipa even made a surprise appearance on BLACKPINK’s In Your Area stop in Newark, New Jersey. She “sent them a message” as she wanted to perform on stage with them.
Basically, a friend of mine told me that BLACKPINK was performing in Newark and said that we should go. And I was like wait, maybe I should get up there and do ‘Kiss and Make Up’ with them. So I sent them a message. That’s kind of how it happened.
Soundcheck was so fun and it was easy. I mean we just kind of ran the song a couple of times together and knew exactly what we were doing and were ready to go. Queens, I love you! You guys are so amazing, talented, and beautiful. I can’t wait to see what the world has in store for you. Sending you lots of love!
