Bandai’s Tamagotchi Is Releasing New BT21 Versions—Here’s What You Can Buy

This is a toy that both kids and adults will want!

Tamagotchi, the beloved toy and accessory of 90s kids, is back, and they have something for the K-Pop stans too!

The handheld digital pet, Tamagatochi, was created in Japan by Akihiro Yokoi of WiZ and Aki Maita of Bandai. It was officially released in November of 1996 by Bandai then into the world in May 1997. It quickly became one of the biggest toy fads of all time as it was a must-have item for kids (and teens) in the late 90s and early 2000s.

The toy has recently renovated itself as “Tamagotchi Pix,” marketing it as “the newest generation of your favorite interactive virtual pet.” It is even more interactive now as it has both a camera and “touch buttons,” features that were pretty much unheard of back in the original’s release. It has all sorts of new features that make it an item fit not just for adults with nostalgia but also for the new generation of kids!

Now, their latest addition includes some of our favorite lovable characters! The company has teamed up with the LINE FRIENDS x BTS characters UNIVERSTAR BT21! So, in addition to Tamagotchi’s pre-existing characters of their own, you can now choose from the UNIVERSTARS.

From the toy’s description, it seems that initially, you will automatically have VAN, “the sentient and all-knowing robot” who represents BTS’s beloved fandom ARMY, as your character. VAN will then bring you one of the other BT21 characters, KOYA, RJ, SHOOKY, MANG, CHIMMY, TATA, or COOKY, as a baby. After that, you will take care of the baby while playing games.

Feed them milk or burgers when they are hungry, or if grumpy, feed them candy or donuts.

Keep your BT21 happy by playing games with them. Includes 4 mini games – dancing, making sweets, space traveling, and picture taking.
