K-Pop idols often go against gender norms and defy stereotypes, and it’s one of the many reasons we love them! Halloween, more than ever, is a great opportunity to go against the expected and try things that normally society would frown upon.
So, here are 10+ male K-Pop idols who defied expectations and rocked gender-bent costumes for Halloween 2021…
1. THE BOYZ’s Kevin as Cruella de Vil
Kevin surprised fans with a dark and sexy twist on the Disney villain Cruella de Vil. His gender-bent version looks phenomenal!
2. GOT7’s BamBam as Cruella de Vil
With Disney’s latest live-action origin film Cruella starring Emma Stone, this was one of the hottest costumes of the year! BamBam also gave his unique take on the character, looking expensive AF.
3. Stray Kids’ Felix as Frozen‘s Elsa
Felix is pretty cute, but Felix as Elsa is next level! With his long blonde hairstyle he rocked earlier this year, we thought maybe he would be Lord of the Ring‘s Legolas, but instead, he brought back the golden locks for Queen Elsa!
4. THE BOYZ’s New as Emily the Corpse Bride
Fans were literally obsessed when they saw that New dressed up as Emily from Tim Burton‘s Corpse Bride, and we can understand why. He nailed the look!
Not only that, but he wasn’t alone either. Younghoon was Victor! They look so perfect.
5. NCT’s Jungwoo as Twilight‘s Bella Swan
SMTOWN’s Wonderland 2021 Halloween party was highly anticipated as it’s essentially the K-Pop Met Gala. This year, NCT‘s Jungwoo truly stole the show as he arrived as none other than Twilight‘s heroine Bella Swan famously portrayed by Kristen Stewart.
Of course, every Bella needs an Edward. So, Taeyong went as Edward Cullen, making them the famous vampire couple. How appropriate since NCT 127’s latest song, “Favorite,” has a vampire theme! Taeyong explained that it was all part of the plan too.
Originally, all the members were going to go as vampires together. Our schedules were so tight that we almost didn’t get to do Halloween but we thought fans would be anticipating it so we decided to all go as vampires. But everyone started thinking differently and we decided to just do our own thing. Then Jungwoo suddenly said he wanted to be Bella, so I thought I would be his opposite partner, and we ended up doing it together.
This also wouldn’t be the first time Jungwoo rocked a gender-bent costume. Last Halloween, he went as Rose from Titanic while Jaehyun was Jack!
6. ONEUS’s Seoho as Squid Game‘s Younghee
This was one of the most popular costumes this Halloween, which isn’t much surprise as Squid Game was the hit show of the year. Both women and men loved this costume. In fact, several of our favorite K-Pop idols wore it, one being ONEUS’s Seoho.
7. Super Junior’s Shindong as Squid Game‘s Younghee
While SMTOWN Wonderland itself is highly anticipated, Shindong’s arrival was just as much as fans knew he wouldn’t do anything halfway! His appearance as the “creepy giant doll” from Squid Game exceeded our expectations!
8. UP10TION’s Lee Jin Hyuk as Squid Game‘s Younghee
Lee Jin Hyuk went all out MBC‘s Show! Music Core as he not only dressed up as Younghee but even performed as her!
9. Wonho as Harley Quinn
10. WEi’s Yongha as Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn is always a popular costume choice for Halloween, so it’s not surprising Wonho wasn’t the only one!
Daehyeon was the Joker to Yongha’s Harley Quinn! What a truly iconic duo.
11. WEi’s Yohan as Squid Game’s Kang Sae Byeok
Rather than dress up as one of the many male characters in Squid Game, Yohan dressed as everyone’s girl crush Sae Byeok originally played by the lovely Jung Ho Yeon!
12. WEi’s Seokhwa as Sweet Home‘s Im Myung Sook
Seokhwa also dressed as a Netflix thriller heroine! He dressed as Sweet Home‘s Myung Sook, a mother who loses her baby in a tragic event, originally played by Lee Bong Ryun. This group certainly knows how to do Halloween!
13. DRIPPIN’s Hyeop as Harley Quinn
We have one more Harley Quinn for you too! For DRIPPIN’s debut week, main vocalist Hyeop dressed as the villainess!
14. Golden Child’s Y as Street Woman Fighter‘s Monika
For fans of the Mnet‘s dance survival show, you know how iconic this is!
